It was only one game, but Travis Outlaw was a major story on opening night. In a good way. The points were normal, the man shoots jumpers like layups, after all. More impressive was the defensive hustle and relative lack of Outlaw-style basketball oopsies. It was an impressive response to a summer of criticism. Batum going down instantly made Outlaw more critical to the team's success. Suddenly, Outlaw went from a situation where his every mistake would be added to the case against him to we really need you in order to win. Not having to constantly peak over your shoulder has to feel good. Playing at a high level is even better.
