Your 2010 NBA Free Agency Thread

Posted: 27th June 2010 by Busta Bucket in NBA
I want to start talking NBA free agency, so I can stop thinking about Kevin Pritchard for a moment. As ESPN kindly reminds us every 5-10 minutes, it is rare for this many quality players to be on the market at the same time. That means a whole lot of speculation on who is going where. Why don't we make a game of it? I've included a list of seven big-time ...
Let me admit something to you: I cheered for the Lakers to win the Finals. It started during Game Two of the series when Boston walked into the Staples Center and slapped the home team around. That was the night Ray Allen made eight three-pointers, Rajon Rondo had a triple double, and it became clear to me that hating the Lakers is total garbage. Maybe I got too close. I’m spending ...

-Chris Dudley for Governor ! So what if he doesn't have anything to say that doesn't come directly from the standard issue GOP playbook . Follow him on twitter here . Notice I didn't make any free throw jokes? Let that be a lesson to all of you blogger-types. - Another day, another Blazers assistant coach reportedly in the running for the head coach job somewhere else . - Matt Scheelar, of Bust a ...

NBA DRAFT LOTTERY BONANZA

Posted: 18th May 2010 by Busta Bucket in NBA
Teams are hoping to be as lucky as Portland was in 2007. May their spirits be crushed. A good way to realize how lame it is to be excited over the draft lottery is to explain it to your lady friend. ME: I can't go. I have to be home to watch the draft lottery. LF: What is that? ME: Where they announce the order of the draft. LF: Oh. So they pick the players? ME: ...
I just figured out my new creed that I should print up on a t-shirt and wear  every day with pride:  " No matter what happens , I will always be a Blazer fan". On Thursday the Blazers face elimination at the hands of the Phoenix Suns. Let that sink in for a moment. This Thursday could be the last time we see these guys on the Rose Garden court ...
What began in ideal form with the Blazers racing out to an early 14 point lead, ended in disaster with the Blazers blowing that early lead and losing in an irritatingly familiar fashion. When Marcus Camby was called for two first quarter fouls and benched, the Blazers slowly but surely obliterated any momentum or confidence they had gained and eventually collapsed under the Suns' expected ...

Game Five Preview: Blazers at Suns

After a Game One explosion of offense from Andre Miller, the Phoenix Suns adjusted and really held him in check for Games Two and Three. In Game Four, when Brandon Roy miraculously returned, Andre was freed up again to do what he does best: scoring when necessary and distributing the basketball. Tonight, in Phoenix, Andre should be able to do that again considering the Suns will double Roy which will leave ...

Did Stoudemire Elbow Batum on Purpose?

Posted: 26th April 2010 by Busta Bucket in NBA
When it comes to the NBA Playoffs, especially after four contests, teams know each other pretty well. Guys know who's injured, who's struggling, and everything else to create a mental game plan. Sometimes players will take advantage of another guy's injury and try to exploit it. On Saturday Nicolas Batum thought Amare Stoudemire went after his injured shoulder. Later on, Amare said, "I didn't hit him on purpose. Just fixing my goggles, ...

Game 4: Blazers 96, Suns 87

Box Score Sometimes there are moments surrounding a game that create momentum shifts nobody thought was possible. Yesterday in Portland that moment was the collective realization by fans that Brandon Roy would indeed play in Game 4. Once fans and teammates realized this, everything changed. The Suns coaches and players had to reevaluate their game plan, while Blazer players instantly felt a confidence boost. The Rose Garden faithful went from angry, short-fused patrons ...

Game 3: Blazers 89, Suns 108

Warning: This Post Is Very Emotionally Charged Last night I got a last minute invite to the first playoff game in Portland between the Blazers and Suns. Not to brag, but I had incredible seats and despite the loss, experiencing the Blazers at the Rose Garden, during the playoffs, is nothing short of magical. The fans were great and loud as ever. I hadn't been to a playoff game since 2000 and ...
