When you hear the name Vincent Lecavalier, instantly the words superstar, all-star, Stanley Cup winner, and incredibly talented player come to mind as words that you would use to describe him. But are they really warranted, and more importantly, are they really deserved? When Lecavalier was drafted into the NHL in the 1998 draft No. 1 overall, people immediately put the pressure of this hockey club right onto his shoulders. He was named captain, he was the first line center, and when things went wrong, the media jumped to Lecavalier's stall to ask what was wrong with him. Fast-forward to 2009, and things really haven't changed, minus the captaincy.
