Playoff beards have been a great tradition in sports for the past 20+ years. Playoff beards are when players and even fans do not shave their beards until after the playoffs or until their team is eliminated.
Even though the Islanders in the NHL started the tradition back in the early 80's, many sports have adopted the tradition of playoff beards. For example, Jake Plummer started bringing playoff beards into football and the 90's New York Knicks players bringing playoff beards to the NBA.
