Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com is reporting that the Flyers are seriously considering waiving blue liner Randy Jones at some point this weekend, and are expected to offer Blair Betts a contract. Jones has had far from an impressive training camp, and didn't stand out in the Flyers 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils. Of course, he has been recovering from offseason hip surgery, but regardless he hasn't showed that he can be the same player he was in 2007-08. Not only does he have his poor play going against him this year, he has his highly expensive contract which the team really can't afford to carry if they want left wing James van Riemsdyk to make the team along with Betts. Jones is among the highest paid sixth defenseman in the NHL with his $3 million dealùonly a $2.75 million ...
