CBC News has reported that legendary NHL enforcer Bob Probert has died at age 45. Probert collapsed after severe chest pains and resuscitation attempts failed. Probert had been boating on Lake St. Clair near Windsor, Ontario when the incident occurred. During an NHL career that spanned 16 seasons, Probert was generally acknowledged as one of the heavyweight champions of the league. Probert's series of battles with Tie Domi and his lengthy bouts with Vancouver's Craig Coxe were the stuff of NHL legends. Probert was more than just a goon. Over the course of 935 games, Probert scored 162 goals, twice scoring 20 or more goals in a season, with a career high of 29 in 1987-88, a year in which he came just one minor penalty away from reaching the 400 penalty minute mark.
