John F. Kennedy was President. A gallon of gas cost $0.31. The Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. The year was 1961 and it was the last time the Blackhawks were on top of the hockey world. A 48 year drought, the longest in the NHL, for the hockey club from Chicago. It's time for Lord Stanley to come back to the Windy City! The Blackhawks were the darlings of the hockey world last season, as they jumped back into the spot light by reaching the Western Conference Finals. Before they were eliminated by the Red Wings, four games to one, they put on a dazzling show throughout the playoffs. Their speed, skill, and toughness led to many late game combacks.
