The Madden Curse Strikes: Troy Polamalu Out Three to Six Weeks

As with every year, the player who graces the cover of the EA Sports' Madden football game has been injured. Its latest victim—Troy Polamalu. Late in the first half of the Pittsburgh Steelers-Tennessee Titans season opener, Polamalu, who was having an All-Pro first half, sprained his MCL in his left knee on a blocked field goal attempt. Alge Crumpler rolled up on Polamalu's left knee as Polamalu tried to pick up the live ball and advance it. The Steelers went on to win the game in overtime 13-10. In his postgame press conference, according to, Mike Tomlin stated that the injury would keep Polamalu out of the lineup for three to six weeks.
