While most of the focus this time of year is on rookie mini camps and projections for draft classes, the bargain hunting portion of free agency is just getting started. As teams clear space for draft picks and free agent signees, older veterans with inflated contracts are often kicked to the curb without much regard; this is the way of the NFL. Add to that the large number of aging free agents that wait by the phones from March till training camp hoping for a call from any team willing to bring them in for a test drive.
