On the very first day of free agency, Chicago Bears' General Manager Jerry Angelo jumped out and signed free agent offensive lineman Frank Omiyale from the Carolina Panthers. At the time, the move was applauded for adding some much needed depth to a line that, at times, was shaky. When training camp started, Coach Lovie Smith made it clear that it was an open competition between Omiyale and incumbent Josh Beekman for the startingáleft guard position.
