The Cleveland Browns have traded DE/DT Corey Williams and a seventh round pick to the Detroit Lions for a fifth round choice. The move makes sense for the Browns considering that Williams had a bloated salary and gave little out-put in his two seasons with the club. Had he not been traded, he most likely would have been cut. Williams came to the Browns in 2008 from the Green Bay Packers, where he was a fair pass rusher. However, he never came into his role in the 3-4 defense as an anchor of the line. When allowed to rush the quarterback he did well, recording two sacks in the Pittsburgh game. The irony of this trade is that Phil Savage (then Cleveland's GM) traded a second round pick for Williams.
