Much has been made about the possibility of an uncapped year in the NFL if the owners and union are not able to come to an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement in the next few weeks.á Many fans have simply assumed that means that there's just no salary cap, and that any team can spend what they want on the usual crop of players whose contracts are up.
