C.J. Spiller is a role-player. Yet, there are reasons that Spiller is widely considered the No. 1 RB prospect in the 2010 NFL Draft. He has "home run" speed and consistently made big plays throughout his college career. Thus with the emergence of Chris Johnson on the Tennessee Titans, it's easy to see why any team would want a speedy difference-maker at RB. Simply put, Spiller is a glorified third-down back. He does not run between the tackles, he has average field vision, and considering his speed, he has poor natural elusiveness. He is a straight-line runner. Spiller is a change of pace, not a go-to guy. This is not to say Spiller is a bad football player outright.
