Now that Cleveland Browns owner Randy Lerner has made a statement to his management staff by firing General Manager George Kokinis, ESPN.com has reported that Lerner is actively talking to retired and former New York Giants GM Ernie Accorsi. UPDATED 11-3-09 10:10 AM: Cleveland.com reports that Accorsi denies any involvement in becoming the Browns GM. Accorsi retired in 2007, is a former Browns GM back in 1985-1992 during their multiple playoff runs to the AFC Championship in the 1980s during the Bernie Kosar era. Most recently, Accorsi was the GM of the Giants from 1998-2006, and he is the reason that the Giants have their current quarterback Eli Manning because Accorsi was the man who conducted the trade that landed them their franchise quarterback.
