On a day when the Mariners seemingly lost out on two of their main targets, pitcher Rich Harden, and All-Star centerfielder Curtis Granderson, the Mariners did make a small move for a name of former significance. They signed former Chicago Cubs centerfielder Corey Patterson to a minor league deal. His best season was in 2004 when he posted a stat line of: .268 average, 24 HRs, 72 RBIs, 32 SBs, .320 OBP, 168 H, 33 2B, 91 R, and 168 SOs. His seasonal averages amount to: .252 average, 17 HRs, 58 RBIs, 30 SBs, .290 OBP, 131 H, 26 2B, 77 R, and 126 SOs. He has struggled the last couple seasons bouncing around from the Brewers, to the Nationals, he was only given 44 ABs over his two single season stints with each team, so it is an awfully small sample size for someone who is 30 years old.
