San Diego Padres general manager Jed Hoyer could be close to signing his first free agent of his tenure with the ball club. MLB.com's Corey Brock reported early this morning that the Padres have had discussions with Crisp and his agent Steve Comte, and that there was interest from both sides. "We have been talking to them. We see a real fit there, possibly," Comte told Brock, also acknowledging that there are concerns from other teams on Crisp's two offseason surgeries. "It's a view we certainly looked at. We've got a host of teams who have approached us with that kind of mind-set. We understand what happened last year with the surgeries on both shoulders.
