Yankees vs. Red Sox: New York Sweep Seals 2009 A.L. East Crown
Posted: 27th September 2009 by Doug Rush in MLB
The magic number was down to one.
One game for the Yankees to clinch the American League East division against the Red Sox.
The game was moved up to originally start at 1 p.m. because of Yom Kippur, but with a rain delay, the game started a little after 2 p.m., so the football fans watching the Giants, Jets, and Patriots at 1 p.m. had an extra hour before doing major channel ...
Gloat Time: Top Five Reasons To Love Being a L.A. Lakers Fan Right Now
Posted: 27th September 2009 by Harrison Moore in NBA
There will always be the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Yankees, and the New England Patriots, but if weÆre being honest no professional sports team in the world garners more dislike than the Los Angeles Lakers. Personally, I think thatÆs half the fun.
Still, I donÆt expect to make any non-Laker friends with this one.

Vikings vs. 49ers: Brett Favre Stuns San Francisco with Comeback
Posted: 27th September 2009 by Ray Tannock in NFL
For those of you still debating whether or not Favre still has it: apparently, he does.
With no less than two seconds left on the clock in a heated battle with San Francisco, the Vikingsùled by Favre, not Petersonùcemented their 3-0 start with a stellar pass from Favre toáGreg Lewis, who "cat-walked" his way to a TD.
Driving down the field against a stout zone coverage package that wreaked havoc on Favre ...
It Wasn’t Only Brett Favre ù NFL Fans Were Winners As Vikings Top 49ers
Posted: 27th September 2009 by Bryan Goldberg in NFL
Yes, I'm a 49ers fan, and yes I am devastated that this one ended up in the loss column.
But don't feel bad for me.
I was just treated to one of the most spectacular and inspirational game-ending victories that this league has seen in years.
Maybe I'm some sort of a masochist, but that stake that the 40-year-old vet drove into our team's heart... well, it was amazing to watch.
The way the ...
Good Sunday afternoon, loyal reader.á Normally I like to wait until Tuesday to post my NFL Bonehead of the Week award.á However, after watching probably the poorest coaching performance of my 26 years on this earth I feel that this week's winner won't be outdone.
That is right, the bonehead this week is Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn.
Last week, at home, he couldn't punch it in on 4th-and-goal, so what ...
It's time to stop the bleeding. Jim Zorn needs to be fired.
Proving once again that he is in over his head, Jim Zorn's Redskins were completely unprepared to play the Detroit Lions.
In all phases of the game, offense, defense, and special teams, the Redskins were dominated by a team that had not won a game in their last 19 tries.
So, why wait any longer on Zorn? The Redskins are becoming ...
The Jacksonville Jaguars Win Their First Game of the Season in Houston
Posted: 27th September 2009 by James Walker in NFL
Isn't it great when the offense opens it up and throws the ball down-field once in a while?á David Garrard completed 18 of 30 attempts for 214 yards as the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Houston Texans.
However, Maurice Jones-Drew was and remains the star of the game with 23 rushes for 119 yards and three TDs.á His longest run was for 61 yards against a very poor Texan rush defense.
We ...
San Francisco 49ers Robbed of a Chance to Go to Overtime
Posted: 27th September 2009 by Steven Resnick in NFL
The San Francisco 49ers were one play from a win over the Minnesota Vikings who are the most overrated football team in the NFL. What's sad is that the Vikings did not beat the 49ers today; the officials did.
In the second quarter the 49ers had gotten the Vikingsáto a third and long situation. Shawntae Spencer made a great play on the ball, but on the play there were two flags. ...
The once proud Pirate ship of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers now looks like a Somali junk.
Oh-no!
Oh-no offense.
Oh-no defense.
Oh-no: Oh and three.
New York Giants: 24 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Oh.
Oh, as in no points on a very ugly Sunday afternoon in Tampa.
It was a team-effort, a total display of futility, offense, defense, everything.
The overworked defense spent most of the sweltering day on the field.
When the paychecks are passed out at One Buccaneer ...
Kansas City Chiefs Vs. Philadelphia Eagles: From Bad To Worse
Posted: 27th September 2009 by Russell Fike in NFL
Michael Vick was anything but incredible.á The plethora of wildcat plays thrown at Kansas City yielded minimal results.á Everything that was hyped going into this game was a nonfactor.á
For all the flash the stories surrounding Philadelphia provide, it was the same frustrations for Kansas City that dictated the gameÆs outcome.á Penalties, a porous offensive line, and lack of pressure on the quarterback appear to be the depressing, recurring themes of ...
