Finally.á After two years of not winning a game, the Lions are off the snide.
And please, this victory over the Washington Redskins should not be discounted because the Redskins are a bad team.á Remember folks, we were that "bad team" 19 freaking times in a row.
Classy move on Lions Head Coach Jim Schwartz to have the team go back out onto Ford Field to share the victory with the fans.á ...
The shortest offseason in pro-sports is over and hereÆs my look at how I think the Northwest division is going to fair this year. IÆm looking at them in the order they finished last year.áá

What was once considered one of the toughest divisions in hockey has devolved into one of the weakest. The divisional .538 winning percentage was better then that of the Southeast division by only the thinnest ...
San Francisco 49ers: The Good Teams, the Bad Teams, and the Ugly
Posted: 28th September 2009 by Brian O'Flaherty in NFL
Just about every NFL coach and player would endorse the idea that "it doesn't matter how you win, as long as you somehow get the win."
á
This is the stance they must take.
á
After all, you can't argue with a win. If you try, you might appear as if you care more about pretty things such as stats, style, and flash. No sensible pro football player wants to be caught dead putting ...
Texans Fumble away Victory: A Recap of Keys to Victory
Posted: 28th September 2009 by Vik Vij in NFL
Before Sunday's Week Three loss to rival Jacksonville, the Houston Texans were on the verge of a winning record. While ordinary teams are not often quick to celebrate such things, the Texans are no ordinary team.
In Week Two's victory, the Texans were able to overcome horrific run defense. Chris Johnson was able to run all over the field, but the Texans came back to win.
This week, the luck ran out. ...
The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is dumb. There are tons of reasons.
My biggest pet peeve is that it's during the middle of the season. Why? Because it really doesn't prove who is the best player at each position. It only proves who was decent during the first half of the season.
So if we celebrate the first-half studs of the baseball season, why shouldn't we celebrate the second-half players?
I didn't ...
Mike Singletary Sends Mixed Messages in San Francisco’s Tough Loss
Posted: 28th September 2009 by Michael Erler in NFL

After the first loss of his coaching career, Mike Singletary was adamant that he knew what it would take to fix the 49ers.
"I want winners!" he bellowed, the first of many oft-quoted declarations he would make during his trial run as San Francisco's interim coach.á
A week later, after a close-but-no-cigar loss at Arizona on Monday Night Football, Singletary delivered another memorable quipùand presto!ù"I'm not a moral victory kind of guy," ...
Trying to figure out the 2009 New England Patriots is like trying to punch a puddle: not very successful and ultimately, painful.
They're an enigma wrapped in a riddle, wrapped in a Rubik's cube with the stickers peeled off. As soon as you think you have them pinned down, the next Sunday rolls around and everything changes.
In truth, it's been difficult to get a bead on anybody on this team, ...
The Tainted Legacy: Brett Favre’s No Longer a Threat
Posted: 28th September 2009 by Scott Duncanson in NFL
Retirement is supposed to be a great time in a athlete's life. Sure it's hard to give up playing a game they played and loved for years. Their teams, coaches, opponents, and fans all get to reflect upon and show appreciation for a long career. I never was a fan of players who came out of retirement.
Jordan. Magic. Roger Clemens and Alonzo Mourning to name a few who came back. ...
Seattle Seahawks Rewind: It Wasn’t All Olindo Mare’s Fault
Posted: 28th September 2009 by Chris Cluff in NFL
The temptation is to blame SeattleÆs 25-19 loss to Chicago on kicker Olindo Mare, but letÆs be very clear: There was plenty of blame to go around.
Yes, Olindo Mare missed two makeable field goals. But should he really have had to kick six field goals? The way it worked out, he would have needed to hit all six just for a chance to hit a seventh to win it or ...
It has now become very apparent that my Raiders have quite a few problems. But I've decided if I'm going to bash my own team I might as well bash the rest of the division.
Here's my best shot at bringing down all the teams in the division with my Raiders.
So lets start off with my Raiders of course.
Aside from the Monday Night opener, the Raiders look horrible.
Not only that, but ...
