Selected by the Rangers in the second round (47th pick) of last year’s draft, Ethan Werek has done nothing but impress this season. With 30 goals and 63 points in 57 games, the 18-year old forward has been one of the few bright spots on a forgettable Kingston Frontenacs team. Unfortunately for both Werek and his team, the Ontario native’s season may have come to an end at the worst time: during the playoffs. According to reports out of Canada, Werek suffered a torn ACL in Kingston’s 2-1 victory over the Brampton Battalion on Sunday. The victory put Kingston in a 3-3 series tie with Brampton, forcing a pivotal seventh game that the Fronts will likely have to play without Werek, their captain and leading scorer.
