Drafted: Sixth Round, 2007 (Parkland, FL) Height: 6′3″; Weight: 220 lbs. Born: Aug. 8, 1989 Rizzo, like Jon Lester, is a cancer survivor. The 20-year-old discovered he had Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the spring of 2008 while playing at Class-A Greenville and missed the rest of the season. He returned to baseball last year and hit .297 with 12 home runs and 66 RBI while splitting the year between Low-A Greenville and High-A Salem. All in all, a pretty impressive accomplishment for the then-19-year-old. The left-handed hitter has a very smooth swing. He is a line-drive hitter who hits to all fields, and it’s expected that he will add power as he matures and learns to turn on pitches.
