Tommy Hanson 11-4 pitched the Braves to a 11-5 win over the Nationals on Saturday that moved the Braves to five games behind the NL East leading Phillies and a slim chance to win the NL East title and an even better chance to win the NL wild card race trailing the Rockies by two and a half games and a magic number of six before they can be eliminated. The White Sox and Cubs were eliminated from the AL Central and NL Central races yesterday. The Cardinals are the only team assured of a division title after yesterdayÆs action. With eight days of play remaining in the 2009 season five divisions are still playing games that matter for the division leaders and teams not eliminated.
