Posted: 19th June 2010 by Phil Andrews in NBA
Death is never easy to grasp, especially when it comes unexpectedly, much like today’s passing of former NBA center, Manute Bol at the age of 47. I had no idea Bol was even sick but apparently the seven-foot-seven gentle giant became gravely ill in May with kidney problems and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a rare skin disease contracted while visiting his home country of Sudan. In 1960 the Philadelphia Eagles capped a 10-2 season by beating the Green Bay Packers 17-13 in the NFL Title game. It wasn’t the last NFL Championship game the Eagles played in (Super Bowls XV and XXXIX), but it was the last Championship won by the franchise. There has been some talk here in Philadelphia this offseason that the current Eagles ownership should consider honoring the 50th Anniversary of ...
After spending the last three years as understudy to recently traded Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb is about to take over the reins of the Philadelphia offense. “I was obviously excited,” Kolb said, “when [head coach] Andy [Reid] called me and said, “Congratulations, you’re the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.’ It’s been a dream of mine for a long time. As you all know, it’s been a patient waiting ...
Remember when the Philadelphia Eagles had one of the best defensive backfields in the NFL, with the likes of Brian Dawkins, Sheldon Brown, Lito Sheppard, and Michael Lewis? Every one of those players was a Pro Bowler at one point and yet, piece-by-piece, the team’s front office has slowly, but surely, dismantled the hard-hitting, ball-hawking quartet until today, when they finally traded away the last member of the group in Sheldon ...

It's been seven years now since Justin Timberlake unknowingly (wink, wink) exposed Janet Jackson's left breast during the half time performanceáof Super Bowl 38. Who knew that one wardrobe malfunction and an exposed mammary gland, would have such an everlasting effect. The actual halftime show that year was produced by MTV and intended to help promote MTV's Rock the Vote campaign to encourage younger people to get out and vote. Unfortunately ...
