2010 NBA Free Agency: Where Will the Top Available Players Land?

Posted: 26th June 2010 by Evan Higgins in NBA
Basketball was my first love. Since we're entering what may be the most exciting free agency period of the sport's offseason, I will take a break from football and talk some basketball. This could be a revolutionary year in the NBA, as teams that have been elite for many years now could see themselves decline in production if they fail to re-sign their stars. Here are my predictions on where the ...
For a second straight season, the Carolina Panthers will be without rising star linebacker Thomas Davis with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The injury is the second one in the past seven months for Davis. The severity of the injury was revealed Wednesday, after he tweaked the same knee he injured in '09 in practice Tuesday.  He was injured during week seven against New Orleans in 2009 with ...

Magic Number Eights: NFL’s Top Return Men

Posted: 9th June 2010 by Evan Higgins in NFL
Return men are important to the NFL, as they decide the starting field position for the offense. It's tricky to find an elite return man, as they have to have a combination of speed, agility, strength, vision and quickness. We have seen return men get more involved with the offense in recent years. Guys like Josh Cribbs, Percy Harvin, DeSean Jackson and Reggie Bush have all been used more than ...

Magic Number Eights: Kickers and Punters in the NFL

Posted: 7th June 2010 by Evan Higgins in NFL
The kicker is the most make-or-break position in the NFL. One kick could change your whole career, in a positive and negative way. Guys like Adam Venateri, David Akers, and John Kasay have all been big names for many years because of their game-winning kicks. The punter position is also important. A bad punt could turn around an entire game.Begin Slideshow

2010 Carolina Panthers: Projected Depth Chart

Posted: 18th May 2010 by Evan Higgins in NFL
As we move closer to the start of the 2010 NFL season, many questions remain surrounding the Carolina Panthers. After failing to sign impact players' during free agency, Carolina chose to build through the draft, including the selection their franchise quarterback. Training camp is not too long away, so I have decided to project Carolina's depth chart coming into week one.Begin Slideshow

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: NFC South

Atlanta Falcons Atlanta came out strong at the start of free agency, signing the top available cornerback Dunta Robinson. Although other than that, there is not much to get excited about. With the addition of Robinson, Atlanta also sent away two corners, Tye Hill and Chris Houston. During the Draft, Atlanta selected linebacker Sean Weatherspoon out of Missouri with the 19th pick in the first round. That filled their biggest hole, and he should start ...

2010 NFL Draft: Which Teams Won And Those Who Lost

Posted: 27th April 2010 by Evan Higgins in NFL
It's always fun to scrutinize the NFL Draft, but in all reality we have no idea how good these players will be. But due to the hype that players received, we are able to give teams a grade on how well they did selecting the big-name players. Here are my winners and losers for the 2010 NFL Draft: Winners: Oakland Raiders Finally, Al Davis overcomes speed and athletics to go after skill. First-round pick Rolando McClain will be ...
During the NFL Free Agency period, there are always "waves." On the first few days, big name players are going from team-to-team and pick their destination to sign a contract. After that first wave, then trades come along. We have seen a lot of those this offseason, Cleveland being the busiest team in that area. Now we've hit that point where teams are paying more attention to the draft, while these free ...
At 5'11, 187 pounds, Armanti Edwards probably won't see much action at the position he played in college football. He was the starting quarterback at Appalachian State University, a quite decorated one I must add. He threw for a total of 10,392 yards and 74 touchdowns throughout his four-year career. He also ran for 4,361 yards and 64 rushing touchdowns.  Thats some fine stats for a guy, even if he wasn't at ...
The Baltimore Ravens may have found their missing piece by acquiring star Receiver Anquan Boldin from the Arizona Cardinals. The star receiver wasn't very costly, sending only a third and fourth round pick to the Cardinals. Along with Boldin, the Ravens also acquired the Cardinals' fifth round pick. Boldin, who has recorded 7,520 yards and 44 touchdowns in his eight year career with the Arizona Cardinals, will improve the Ravens greatly, pairing ...
