Balloting for the American League All-Star team is not over, not until July 1, and the Yankees currently have two players with the most amount of votes for their positions, SS Derek Jeter and 2B Robinson Cano. Mark Teixeira , Alex Rodriguez , and Jorge Posada are all in second place at their respective positions, but only Teixeira is close enough to still have a chance. In the outfield the Yankees ...

Yesterday was a showdown between two young starters with 9-1 records. The Yankees' Phil Hughes came out on topas the Yanks beat the Mets 5-3 . Now 10-1, Hughes looks like a strong candidate for the All-Star game. Here are some notes: Unfortunately for Hughes he may not be able to pitch in the All-Star game because of a new rule that says pitchers who pitch the Sunday before the game are ...

New York Yankees Notes

Posted: 18th June 2010 by Bronx Baseball Daily in MLB
Andy Pettitte didn’t have his best stuff last night, but he still managed to pitch seven innings while giving up only two earned runs. It seems like he does that every night out these days. The Yankees still lost though, thanks to Kyle Kendrick who allowed just one run over seven innings, and Joba Chamberlain, who fell apart in the ninth when he was charged with three earned runs. The final ...
The Yankees had an off-day yesterday and are getting ready for a big week as they have a World Series rematch against the Phillies coming up followed by the Subway Series this weekend. If you are looking for a place to make a bet on one of these games online betting seems to be pretty popular these days. Here are some notes: Brett Gardner plans on using a protective ring on his ...
The Yankees are back in first place after beating the Astros 9-5 yesterday behind a strong performance by Phil Hughes and another Jorge Posada grand slam. Here are some notes: The Yankees record is now 40-23, tied for the best in baseball. Posada is the first Yankee to hit Grannies in back-to-back games since Bill Dickey in 1937. Hughes improved to 9-1, but his ERA is now a season high 3.11 after a rough ...

New York Yankees Trade Rumors: Yanks Not Interested In Cliff Lee

Posted: 9th June 2010 by Bronx Baseball Daily in MLB
This morning, I passed along a rumor that the NY Post reported today.  According to the Post, the Mariners were scouting Yankee minor leaguers in anticipation of dealing LHP Cliff Lee to the Bronx. I wrote this story reluctantly because the Yankees boast a full five-man rotation. They  really don't need another starter. This afternoon, the Daily News published a more sensible report. The Daily News actually contacted the Yankees to see ...

I have to admit that a radio appearance and the debut of Stephen Strasburg took up most of my attention last night, but that didn’t stop the Yankees from beating up on the Orioles. They won 12-7 behind a grand slam from Curtis Granderson and a hard fought performance by Phil Hughes. Here are some notes: Hughes improved to 8-1 with a 2.71 ERA on the season. An all-star game appearance might be ...
