Who Should Be the Chicago Bears’ Primary BackùMatt Forte Or Chester Taylor?
Posted: 20th June 2010 by Bob Warja in NFL
It's an admittedly nice problem to have, and, in fact, probably a necessity in the NFL these days: having two competent running backs.
The Bears could have had this previously if they had kept Thomas Jones or Cedric Benson, but that is muddy water under the bridge.
Still, it is a question that seems to be important to the modern NFL player: Why can't both players get an equal number of ...
Troy Glaus Secures Win in Ninth; Braves Up 1 1/2 Games in NL East
Posted: 20th June 2010 by Alan Parrish in MLB
When the Atlanta Braves signed Troy Glaus this past offseason, they hoped for an offensive spark that has been lacking at first base in recent years; they got much more than they bargained for.
Glaus has been stellar this year, and last night was no exception. Glaus hit a home run off Robinson Tejada on an 0-2 count to give the Braves a 5-4 victory over the tough-luck Royals Saturday night.
Glaus ...
Remembering Manute Bol: NBA Gentle Giant and Humanitarian
Posted: 19th June 2010 by Phil Andrews in NBA
Death is never easy to grasp, especially when it comes unexpectedly, much like today’s passing of former NBA center, Manute Bol at the age of 47.
I had no idea Bol was even sick but apparently the seven-foot-seven gentle giant became gravely ill in May with kidney problems and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a rare skin disease contracted while visiting his home country of Sudan.
According to the University of Virginia Hospital in ...
Time Off for Good Behavior: Has Mike Singletary Gone Soft?
Posted: 19th June 2010 by Patrick Goulding II in NFL
The San Francisco 49ers wrapped up mandatory mini-camps one day ahead of schedule on Friday, as head coach Mike Singletary decided to cancel the planned Saturday practices and release his players a day early. They will be off until they reconvene for training camp late next month.
In a media interview , Coach Sing cited all the hard work his players and coaches had put in throughout the off-season fitness sessions, ...
2010 MLB Trade Deadline: Five Players the Rangers Should Target
Posted: 19th June 2010 by Jason Brynsvold in MLB
Riding a seven-game winning streak on the road, the Texas Rangers have improved their record to 40-28, which is good for fourth best in all of baseball.
Even with the Rangers strong play, the Los Angeles Angels still sit only 2.5 games back of the Rangers after Saturday's games, so it looks like the Rangers should be looking for some help when the trade deadline arrives.
Not everyone is going to ...
John Wall is considered a unanimous number one pick in NBA mock drafts. Since it is a foregone conclusion that Wall will be drafted number one, I have decided to discuss one of the more interesting position battles: Gilbert Arenas vs. John Wall assuming that Wall is drafted by the Wizards.
This will be a good battle between what many draft experts consider the next phenom in John Wall and a declining but nonetheless ...
Why is it when we talk about a receiver or a running back, you don't hear how they had five playoff appearances, and all the blah blah blah that detracts from what the team actually accomplished?
Eli Manning is not the team, and I for one find the logic of glorifying the QB with what the entire team accomplishes as a joke. In 12 seasons, Peyton Manning, has only won one Super Bowl.

Posted: 19th June 2010 by Tommy Torkelson in NFL
We've all heard it dozens of times before.
"Such and such player is 29. He's got about one good year left"
"Why's that?"
"Don't you know running backs drop off at 30?"
That conversation has happened in hundreds of sports bars, living rooms, and stadiums for years. So whose name will be on the lips of these fans' 30 year wall conversations sooner than later?
Here are five running backs running straight for the ...

Hamhuis’ Rights Acquired by Flyers; Maple Leafs in on Trade Talks?
Posted: 19th June 2010 by Brad LeClair in NHL
The Philadelphia Flyers acquired the rights to Dan Hamhuis earlier today from the Nashville Predators. These moves are very common in the NHL and is also a very common tactic the Flyers have employed in the past. Such rights of players to be dealt to Philadelphia have been Kimmo Timonen and Scott Hartnell. That trade ended up being the negotiation rights to Timonen and Hartnell for the Flyers first round ...
