James Anderson: shooting guard, 6'6", 210 pounds, out of Oklahoma State University. Ever since the departure of Ben Gordon, former fourth overall pick, the Chicago Bulls have been lacking the one shooter to sink threes and shoot outside of the paint with consistency. Players such as Derrick Rose, Luol Deng, and Taj Gibson, are guys who play up-close and personal, opposed to Gordon's game of cranking shots away from everyone else. It's a ...

New Orleans Super Bowl XLIV DVD: Another Average NFL Films Production

Posted: 21st June 2010 by C Douglas Baker in NFL
The New Orleans Saints Super Bowl XLIV highlight package is rather average, but a bit better than the last few years.  Of course, for any New Orleans fan, it is a great keepsake, no doubt. The feature of all the team specific Super Bowl highlight packages is about an hour long highlights reel of the New Orleans Saints regular season.  This year’s edition does a decent job ...
J.A. Adande, what are you talking about? The sports columnist subtly mentioned on ESPN that he spoke with a general manager who said not to rule out the Lakers in the mix for LeBron. As ridiculous, far-fetched, (you fill in the blank) as this rumor may sound, let's not close the gate too early. At the same time, let's not let the LeBron-Laker ordeal be the main focus for our 2010 NBA ...
When fans of the Milwaukee Bucks voted on the 40th Anniversary Team in 2008, Ray Allen finished third in balloting, trailing only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson. That's high praise for a player that played for only one team that won more than 42 games in a season. Before he was a part of the "Big Three" in Boston, Allen was part of the famed "Big Three" in Milwaukee, along with ...

NHL Buzz: Monday, June 21st

With the NHL entry draft a few days away, I have to write rumor blogs everyday or will fall behind. Here is the latest. The Ottawa Senators are expected to trade defenseman Anton Volchenkov's rights before or at the draft. The Chicago Blackhawks are shopping forwards Patrick Sharp, Kris Versteeg and Dustin Byfuglien. The Toronto Maple Leafs appear interested. An offer sheet may be coming for goalkeeper Antti Niemi July ...
As the 2010 NBA Draft approaches, there are many uncertainties as to where some players will fall. The first three picks seem to be falling into place with John Wall heading to the nation's capital to play for the Wizards, Evan Turner potentially replacing Andre Iguodala in Philadelphia, and Derrick Favors becoming Brook Lopez's new sidekick in the post in New Jersey. However, after that there are many scenarios which could come ...
During the NCAA Tournament, it took awhile for people to realize if Butler was for real and perhaps the question still exists. Just as many people may have doubted the team, there is still a debate about the potential of their star forward Gordon Hayward. One of the teams that has kept an interest in Hayward is the Milwaukee Bucks, who look to have another successful first round pick in 2010 after ...

Chicago Cubs Have a Stable of Impressive Young Studs

Posted: 21st June 2010 by Tom Dubberke in MLB
The 2010 Cubs are a team I think of as being full of geezers, with Marlon Byrd, Mike Fontinot, Ryan Theriot, Kosuke Fukodome, Xavier Nady, Alfonso Soriano, Aramis Ramirez, Derrek Lee, Ted Lilly, Ryan Dempster and Carlos Silva all over 30.  However, the Cubs have been quietly slipping a number of promising rookies into the mix this year. The position players are SS Starlin Castro and OF Tyler Colvin.  Castro is ...

B.J. Raji, Ready to Cause Some Havoc for Green Bay Packers

Posted: 21st June 2010 by Chad Lundberg in NFL
Going 6-10 is obviously not fun. But getting the ninth overall pick in the NFL draft for it, is. When the Pack ers selected B.J. Raji , a wave of relief exited my lungs. I knew the first step to improving our defense would be to start getting some fresh talent. Keeping the Pack ers from 22 nd in overall defense was officially priority No. 1. Raji ...

Extending the NFL Season: Debating 18 Games Vs. 16 Games

Posted: 21st June 2010 by Brian DiTullio in NFL
As part of the new NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement, the league may add two more regular season games, increasing the season to 18 games. To keep from extending the season any further into February, the league would cut the preseason in half, from four games to two. Overall, the players still would have to play 20 games before the postseason. There are pros and cons to this plan, but overall, it's not necessarily ...
