Edmonton Oilers: Pros and Cons

Posted: 27th June 2010 by Dalen Brueckner in NHL
Can the Edmonton Oilers get back to postseason action? They have some guy named Hall and possibly the most famous Canadian junior player ever in Jordan Eberle. Svensson from Sweden is a great fast winger and the Bulin wall will be standing tall. Ah, then we come to the rest of the team. That's a very depressing subject. Lets not go there just yet. Really the question we must ask is ...

MLB Prime Nine: Top Candidates for AL MVP

Posted: 27th June 2010 by D.A. in MLB
It's never too early to determine who is at least in the running for awards in Major League Baseball. Sports Illustrated recently put out a column stating there are only three major candidates for the AL MVP. I call shenanigans. There is one clear-cut deserving front-runner now, but there also at least eight others who are in the running. We know that players go through hot and cold streaks, so here are ...
Philadelphia Eagles backup QB Michael Vick was, or wasn't, involved in an altercation in the early hours last Friday, that much we all know. We also know that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell could enforce a multiple-game suspension on Vick for violating league policies. Vick made the right move and decided to leave his birthday celebration before any shooting took place, but he could still face infractions simply for making the NFL ...
Ultimately, a player's career determines his value come free agency; however a big contract year can draw attention to a player and force a bidding war where a player gets paid, the more than he would have expected when the season started. Use Danny Tartabull as an example.Tartabull had two great seasons leading up to the off season of 1991-2. One of those great seasons was the 1991 campaign which ...

After two nights of playing games that lasted over four hours, the Rockies played a game that lasted just 2:15. Unfortunately for the Rox, they lost the game 4-2. Aaron Cook had seven great innings of baseball. Unfortunately, he was in the game for eight innings. In the bottom of the first inning, Cook gave up a grand slam to Hideki Matsui, a veteran player who is not a stranger to the ...

On the same day the Detroit Lions were forced to stop their final minicamp practice early because of a massive team brawl, team President Tom Lewand was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The news was first reported by WXYZ-TV. Apparently Lewand was arrested on Friday night near Houghton Lake in Roscommon County, and then released. He released this statement Saturday. In the physical AFC North division, the Cleveland Browns have been a finesse team with very little success. Under second-year coach Eric Mangini, that’s changing. Forget all the talk about the Browns switching to the West Coast Offense.  It’s not happening—at least not in 2010. Sure there may be a few West Coast plays but the Browns' bread and butter will be their running game. While finishing the ...

2010 NBA Free Agency: Where Will the Top Available Players Land?

Posted: 26th June 2010 by Evan Higgins in NBA
Basketball was my first love. Since we're entering what may be the most exciting free agency period of the sport's offseason, I will take a break from football and talk some basketball. This could be a revolutionary year in the NBA, as teams that have been elite for many years now could see themselves decline in production if they fail to re-sign their stars. Here are my predictions on where the ...
