Philadelphia Eagles Make No. 37 Pick: Welcome to Philadelphia, Safety Nate Allen
Posted: 23rd April 2010 by Dan Dubrow in NFL
The Philadelphia answer yet another need in the second round (37th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft by drafting South Florida product safety Nathaniel Allen.
Many Eagles fans were hoping for Southern Cal's Taylor Mays, but the Eagles went with Allen who was an outstanding safety for the Bulls. At 6'0", 207 pounds, Allen has an excellent combination of size and athleticism.
Nate Allen has good balance, quickness, and foot agility, while displaying ...
Greetings from the Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Since I am on a business trip and my time is limited, I thought I would group a couple of posts into one.
By the way, if you want to feel better about yourself, just walk around in the Bally’s casino at around 8 o'clock in the morning. It’s not a pretty place.
Let’s see what is going on around the ...
Last night we watched a legend in decline, Kobe Bryant, fail to recognize the deterioration of his powers and cost his team the game. It made me wonder whether Kobe ever really understood that he can’t do it alone.
I know this seems like a reactionary statement, but Kobe has been playing losing basketball for the past two months. Manu Ginobili has been outplaying Bryant in April, and it’s not even ...
Watching the NBA playoffs gives you a great perspective of the beauty and athleticism of the game of basketball, and how the best of the best take it to another level.
Being able to elevate a team and making them better than they should be is part of my criteria to be considered a top ten player in the league.
If you didn't get your team to the playoffs, you don't make my ...
The kids from Colorado skated off the ice last night like teenage boys having their hearts broken for the first time.
With a fatherly arm around them, the Sharks can say "Cheer up there son. Your time will come. We know exactly how you're feeling and it's not easy."
There're plenty of other fish in the sea.
Just don't mess with the Sharks!
San Jose showed the kind of dominance they did in Game ...
I was shocked last night.
Not because the Flyers blew us to smithereens, though that was disappointing.
I was shocked by what King Marty Brodeur said after the game:
“I just don’t believe it,” he said. "It’s kind of tough to digest. We had a hell of a team here, but for whatever reason we never got to the level we needed to play in the playoffs. I’m just really disappointed, that’s for ...
Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier: Shades of Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco
Posted: 23rd April 2010 by Todd Boldizsar in MLB
When watching the Los Angeles Dodgers' Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier, shades of past glory in California come shining through.
Remember the days of Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco in Oakland? I don't...I was born in the 80's, but I've seen the footage.
Just watching two players electrify a crowd like McGwire and Canseco did draws parallels to today in Chavez Ravine. Add to the beat Silver Slugger Awards for two-thirds of ...
Many love him, many hate him, but Rod Allen is one of a kind. I think we can all agree on that. For a long time, I wasn’t the biggest fan in the world of the Tiger color commentator.
I always preferred the old FSN duo of Josh and Gibby over the team of Mario and Rod. But over time, I’ve come to appreciate Rod ...
When a team has a roller coaster season like the one the Chicago Bulls had this season, consistency is usually what is lacking. For this team, however, there has always been one constant: effort. You can chalk it up to their youth or to Joakim Noah's win-at-all-cost attitude, but whatever it is, it's giving a national audience (and certain big names that'll be looking for a new home come ...
Lockup: Ball Denial Defense Could Be Cavs’ Key to Five-Game Series Win
Posted: 23rd April 2010 by Dan Delagrange in NBA
Thus far in the Cavaliers' first-round series with the eighth-seeded Bulls, the Chicago backcourt tandem of Derrick Rose and Kirk Hinrich have done a masterful job of frustrating an otherwise impenetrable Cleveland defense.
Rose has frequently abused counterpart Mo Williams on the Cavs' defensive end, slashing into the interior of the floor at will and either getting open looks at the hoop or having myriad passing options through the carouseling Cleveland ...
