2010 NHL Playoffs: Game 6 Win Would Leave San Jose Rocky-Mountain High

Posted: 24th April 2010 by Patrick Goulding II in NHL
Most San Jose Sharks fans will probably concur that after the devastation of winning the President’s Trophy and losing in Round One to the “No-Longer Mighty” Ducks of Anaheim in 2009, a seven-game, hard-fought, character-building opening-round series win over the Colorado Avalanche would look pretty good. After all, the Avalanche are a young team on the rise. They have given the Sharks quite a series in Round One, and taken full advantage ...

The Utah Jazz’s 105-93 Game Three victory over the Denver Nuggets was revealing in the truths unveiled by each participant with one caveat—the 12-point difference in the final score was an untruth in that Utah was much more dominant than the Nuggets after the game’s initial 10 minutes. Truth: Paul Millsap eviscerated the Denver Nuggets Reason: Because Utah had so much success running screen/fades with Deron Williams ...
Thus far, the Rams have done nothing to improve their sagging receiver corp in the 2010 draft.  This is a serious problem because Sam Bradford lacks quality targets to throw to. This can change quickly tomorrow.  Several outstanding receivers with high draft grades remain on the board.  Let's hope this situation does change for the better.   With that said we have the following (mostly) excellent prospects to chose from: Dezmond Briscoe , ...
After drafting Vladimir Ducasse in the second round, the New York Jets will release Pro Bowl offensive guard Alan Faneca. The current report is that Faneca will be "officially" released sometime on Monday, April 26. Faneca was due $7.5 million this season. New York was not prepared to offer that amount of money to an aging offensive guard that probably won't be able to hold up for too ...

Baltimore Orioles Rally Falls Short as Boston Red Sox Prevail, 4-3

Red Sox southpaw Jon Lester pitched 5.2 shutout innings this evening, but his bullpen allowed two runs in the seventh inning and another in the eighth as the visiting Baltimore Orioles tied the game, thereby leaving the lefty with only a no-decision to show for his efforts. But the Sox scored in the bottom of the frame courtesy of a bases-loaded walk to Adrian Beltre, and they went ...

Paul Pierce Drills Game Winner at Buzzer To Put Miami in a Chokehold

Posted: 24th April 2010 by Ryan McDonnell in NBA
Dwyane Wade and his Miami Heat showed very early on that they meant business in Game Three on Friday night.  But ultimately, it was "The Truth" that closed out the game by draining a step-back jumper at the end of regulation to put Miami in the hole three games to none in the series. Paul Pierce played magnificently, scoring 22 of his 32 points in the second half, nabbing eight boards, and nailing the game ...

To say that the 2010 NFL Draft has been a surprise would be an extreme understatement. The first round of the draft featured the most trades in NFL draft history, and rounds two and three were not far behind. After the first three selections in the NFL draft, the rest of the picks have been a bit of a mystery, with the Cleveland Browns adding to that suspense. After weeks of speculation on ...

Colorado Rockies Rained Out, Doubleheader Saturday

Posted: 24th April 2010 by David Martin in MLB
Welcome to Colorado. Opening Day on April 9 was absolutely perfect, 70 degrees and sunny, with all of the signs of spring in the air. Colorado is notorious for tricking people into believing that summer is here, then sending a mocking snowstorm as a reminder that summer is really another month off. On Friday morning Denver's weather looked more like the Broncos should have been playing rather than the Rockies, but ...
ST. LOUIS—Sam Bradford grew up a fan of Troy Aikman. Now he’ll wear his number. Handed No. 8 by the St. Louis Rams, the former Oklahoma quarterback and No. 1 overall pick Thursday night in the NFL draft, was introduced to the St. Louis media Friday at Rams Park. "I grew up in Oklahoma City, not too far from Dallas, and I watched Aikman play quite a bit. I definitely ...
