Pacman Fever: The Detroit Lions and the Ghosts of Adam Jones
Posted: 21st March 2010 by Daniel Muth in NFL
Adam Jones is more commonly known as "Pacman" and has been recognised as such for much of his life, dubbed early on by his mother who noticed his propensity for gobbling up his milk as a toddler.
This was a name that would aptly transfer to his football career where, as a high school, collegiate, and professional athlete, he showed a more remarkable propensity for gobbling up every pass that came ...
Orlando Magic: Is Another “Magic Kingdom” in the Making?
Posted: 21st March 2010 by C.J. Myles in NBA
What we have here is possibly the best lineup since the 1995 NBA Finals. Hard to believe it took 14 years to get back there, and 15 to look like a team that could go back. The Magic will probably cruise along the rest of these games, testing out rotations and playmaking. At least, that's what I would do.
A couple of changes to the lineup have had positive changes lately. ...
San Francisco 49ers: Would Bill Walsh Think the Right Leader Was in Place?
Posted: 21st March 2010 by Pacifica Slug in NFL
My wife recently visited a local library and brought home a book about leadership. It is called "The Score Will Take Care of Itself," and it is about Bill Walsh's philosophy on leadership.
It was started by Walsh and a writer, and finished posthumously by that same writer and Walsh's son, Craig.
I thought it is very relevant to the current situation with the 49ers, as there does not seem like ...
2010 NBA Draft: The Hornets Are in the Lottery, So Now What?
Posted: 21st March 2010 by Matt Gelfand in NBA
After Saturday night's 106-86 embarrassment at the hands of the Utah Jazz, the New Orleans Hornets (33-38, 9.5 games behind Portland for the final playoff spot) have basically established themselves as a lottery team.
This is a GOOD thing, assuming the same scouting and front office team that thought highly enough of Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton in last year's draft is still intact this year.
GM Jeff Bower has ...
Brian Westbrook, Brad Childress, and the Willy Nilly Chilly Philly Conspiracy
Posted: 21st March 2010 by M Holly in NFL
The question that keeps popping up is this: Why are the Minnesota Vikings not in a hurry to determine whether Brian Westbrook should be their third-down running back or not?
Since he was released by the Eagles, most football analysts concluded Minnesota was the likely landing spot.
Since previous third-down back Chester Taylor left for the Bears, Westbrook became the clear favorite and best available fit for the Vikings' job opening.
He has ...
NHL Picks for March 21st, 2010: What is the Biggest Upset of the Year?
Posted: 21st March 2010 by Shane House in NHL
Last Night's Record : 3—2 Record for the Week : 15—7 Tampa Bay Lightning at Florida Panthers The Battle of the Sunshine State isn't as intense as the Battle of Ontario, but it is a battle non—the—less.
With both Florida and Tampa Bay losing a lot as of late, both seem destined to be enjoying the weather on the golf course during the playoffs.
But the stats against ...
Raptors Report Week 20: Fifth Seed Now Out of Reach for Raps?
Posted: 21st March 2010 by Sachin Arora in NBA
It's about time that Chris Bosh broke 30 points. Bosh has been struggling lately, and same with the Raptors. Sure, it was against the Nets, but the Raptors got a big win.
The Raptors took the win this week in a thriller against the Atlanta Hawks, and then got smacked by the Thunder once again. They got the easy win against the lowly Nets, and maybe that's what they need to ...
2010 NFL Draft: Rolando McClain Fits Jacksonville Jaguars’ Redesign
Posted: 21st March 2010 by Jack Harver in NFL
Most speculation in the weeks leading up to April's 2010 NFL Draft will revolve around value boards and teams' needs, with analysts ranking prospects in search of the "best player available" and probing holes in depth charts for clues.
For the Jacksonville Jaguars, though, one of their best options with the draft's 10th overall pick—Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain—might not fit either of those methods, despite having a consensus first-round grade.
Firstly, McClain ...
Idaho guard Mike Iupati . Texas safety Earl Thomas . Maryland tackle Bruce Campbell.
Everyone is familiar with the guys the Cowboys are supposed to take. Surely they couldn’t pass on Iupati if he drops to pick No. 27, right?
The draft rarely plays out as we expect. Below are a few first and second round prospects that no one (except maybe we) expects the Cowboys to select, ...
